Essay 4

Using the Wall Street Journal as a learning tool was more helpful than using a traditional text book. The Wall Street Journal produces real time information as to what’s going on in the world and advancements in media; where as a textbook is usually out of date and not easily relatable. Mass communications is a subject that involves hands on involvement and interest not reading for textbook. I do not plan to continue with my subscription of the Wall Street Journal. Though it’s kind of wrong, instead of paying for a paper I can read the same news online. This was a very interesting course and I am glad to have taken it. I have always planned to pursue a career in the Mass Communications field. This course was a learning tool to help me prepare.

Essay 3

Social-networking services are among the most common ways of communication in today’s date. Between Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace there are number of ways to stay connected with the world. I’m a MySpace member. I probably spend 2-3 hours a week on the website. I use the site to stay connected with people that I normally wouldn’t if it weren’t for MySpace. I use the site mainly for entertainment purposes. It’s something to do when you’re bored. If there was a fee for the site I may pay it. I wouldn’t pay anything over $10 for the year. There will always be another site out there just like it that wont charge a thing.

Essay 2

If I was deserted on an island and allowed one movie to watch I would have to choose Grease. Grease is my all time favorite movie. I love the music, the characters, and the story plot. I love how Sandy is a quite innocent school girl who turns into a badass leather pants wearing diva. And of course I myself always wanted to be a Pink Lady.
I like watching movies at both the theatre and at home. It’s convenient to watch a movie at home because you can lie down, and talk, and stop the movie if needed. On the other hand going to the theatre gives you a reason to leave your house and have the effect of surround sound and a big screen.
I was not able to watch the awards on Sunday because I was at work. If not I would have watched them.

Essay 1

When told that we would not be using are textbook for class but instead subscribing to the Wall Street Journal I was very excited. I've never had a class where we've done anything like this and thought it was a cool idea. When the professor said in order to be apart of this industry it's important we stay in tuned with the rest of the world,it made me think of how I don't do that.
I honestly don't read the newspaper but would like to start doing so. So this being part of our curriculum it makes me obligated to read the paper which I like because I can't make excuses for not reading it. I think reading the Wall Street Journal makes the class interesting since it's not the ordinary thing to do. It will keep me posted on what's going on in the world and broaden my knowledge on different subjects.
